This book tells the story of the King of Persia who is angered by Vashti one of his wives who disobeys him. He wants to make a spectacle of her. Meanwhile his Jewish servant Mordecai has refused to render him homage for religious reasons angering the King. The King is caught in a trap of his own making when he selects Esther to replace Vashti. Esther is Mordecai's niece and she saves her people from the Persians who are trying to kill them all. This story honors the Feast of Purim(lots) when the Jews were again saved from death by God's help.
